What do we want to see in Anahita 4.4

Blossoms in WestEnd

The focus of #Anahita 4.3 was to completely remove Joomla from Anahita. The focus of next release will be #MobileFirst and developing a client server architecture where all the UI layouts and elements are generated in the browser using Javascript while the server side php becomes mostly an API.

This article describes the ideal scenarios that we are aiming to achieve.

What comes after 4.1.5 release

The next major work is #MobileFirst user interfaces in Anahita which pretty much means rebuilding all the UIs and quite likely we are going to introduce new technologies such as #AngularJS and #MaterialDesign that are more suitable that generic #JQuery and #Bootstrap for an application environment. During this process we will be building native administration features in the front-end and compl...

Bootstrap

I do not know if this could be relevant to anyone else but me - but I would like to enroll here.as i guess this could be useful also in connection with Anahita. #Bootstrap https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-bootstrap-tutorial-microsoft-dev203x#.VRHH9OF-mtY

Migrating to JQuery before MobileFirst implementation

Before we can start working on the #MobileFirst design we need to rewrite all of our javascript code in #JQuery. Then we can decide whether to use #Bootstrap or #ZurbFoundation as the CSS framework and rebuild all the UIs. I have done the first commit to my personal repository:

https://github.com/rmdstudio/anahita

which contains some of the JQuery code that I have written. Feel free to fork t...

Looks like #JQuery website, #ZurbFoundation, and #Bootstrap use slightly different structure for their plugins. Need to find a pattern that works best for #Anahita

Thank you Johan, yes #Sass #Bower and #Grunt are also used in both #ZurbFoundation and #Bootstrap.

This week's #Anahita #Hackathon was all code and documentation reading. Went through all Anahita JS code as well documentation for #JQuery, #Bootstrap, and yes the #ZURBFoundation of course.

Bootstrap it is

I'm not looking at the finger, I'm looking where it points. So, the point is not #Bootstrap or #Foundation (I like Bootstrap), the point is the reason behind the choice, which suggest a vision, an approach, a direction. In general, how, in your opinion, could a #startup choose Anahita to build its #SaaS product and defend this choice to partners, investors, backers?

Bootstrap it is

After contemplating and doing some research we have decided to stay with #Bootstrap for Anahita 4.*

A simple comparison of the repositories on GitHub shows that Bootstrap has 7 times more forks and nearly 4 times more stargazers. I did a quick survey in #LaunchAcademy and couldn't find a single person who had used Foundation in the past, but there were a few who were familiar with the project....

#Foundation is pretty nice, but #bootstrap is far more popular. I would stay sticking with #bootstrap would be best.

UX Feedback

@imani it's so nice to see you again. You are right the tagging autocomplete and composer integration would be great UX improvements for hashtags, mentions, and locations. As Nick said, we withheld implementing those, because #Bootstrap and #JQuery aren't the best option for building more complex UI behaviours. Instead we focused on building the APIs and removing Joomla. The focus of next r...

This week's #Anahita #Hackathon was focused on prototyping #JQuery plugins and reading #emberJS docs. The goal is to rewrite the existing javascript code in Anahita. Still undecided about the CSS framework, though the current release of #Bootstrap doesn't seem to be completely ready for mobile unless you are theming a CMS with pages that are used for reading and browsing only. Right now leaning...

This week's #Anahita #Hackathon was mostly accomplished by viewing good examples of #MobileFirst on different mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, Android), doing lots of sketches, and reading #Bootstrap and #ZurbFoundation docs. I believe we can start coding now.

Good point, again I am just reading the docs. What do you guys think of #ZurbFoundation as the CSS framework? It seems to offer a lot more for app development in comparison to #Bootstrap have you every used Foundation in any of your Nooku projects?
Rastin Mehr

Rastin Mehr

Personally not entirely convinced on #Bootstrap despite the fact that most people I've talked to been using it and spoke in favour of it.

Going about MobileFirst in Anahita 4.1

Here is how we are going to approach the #MobileFirst implementation.

1. Update the existing layouts and UIs to the latest release of Bootstrap and #Mootools #Bootstrap https://anutron.github.io/mootools-bootstrap/

2. introduce #AngularJS and #JQuery to Anahita and gradually remove all the #Mootools code.

3. redesign the layouts and UIs based on MobileFirst approach.

2 and 3 may be happening in...

Reminder this Saturday is the weekly #Anahita #Hackathon. Focus would be choosing the right CSS framework #Bootstrap or #Foundation also maybe some prototyping. Follow the Anahita project group for updates.
