Admin urls redirecting to Site and show 404 page in Nginx - [resolved]

Has anybody experienced this scenario before? We have a stubborn Centos server with Nginx on it and the views on the admin side are redirecting to the site and 404 errors are shown. For example:

for example: staging.mysite.com/administrator/index.php/config

redirects to 404, but

staging.mysite.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_config

shows fine.

Has anybody dealt with this issue and solved it?

#nginx #redirect404 #admin #config

I've had issues with the Admin area on Openshift. It seems to redirect from the domain that I give it back to the subdomain that OpenShift provides a lot. I think there's something funky going on with the router, but I haven't been able to track down what.

Yes this is a similar issue. How did you fix it?

This one is a subdomain that runs as a virtual host /var/www/staging.mydomain/www what's strange that this particular server doesn't like the url format in the admin side and the following configuration doesn't help either:

location / {

try_files $uri $uri/ /index.php?q=$request_uri;

}

I think this calls for a bug fix patch. Basically no link in the admin back-end need to use the route method. Then we keep it that way until the admin back-end is completely removed in 4.3 release.

No patches yet and no magic Nginx configuration worked. The request doesn't even hit the administrator/index.php file which means it is most likely a server configuration issue.

@Rastin,I'm not sure it's strictly related to NGINX. this happens in APACHE as well, on a clean install...

Thank you Mati for letting me know. I need to test that today. Did you try on your local machine or a commercial server?

I just tried on MAMP on my local machine and can't reproduce the issue. The links in the admin back-end route properly.

@mtk when I add die('here'); in the administrator/index.php it won't stop the execution. That's why I think the request doesn't even reach the administrator directory.

Alright all the routing has been removed from the URLs in the back-end. A new patch will be available soon. The code is in the master branch.

@rastin, I'm just getting 404 - Category not found on any link I try to access (can't even set the first user).

@rastin, ignore that, issue resolved locally (/etc/hosts issue)... :)
