Topic, Page app editors

Hello Tribe,

Good to be here after some break. I can see improved Anahita with along with better performance as well. Kudos to Rastin and his team for their dedication and hard work on this cheers!

@Rastin, can you please comment on below -

- Topic and Page app editor is now new lightweight #HTML5 #editor way better than old primitive. But still editing is very limited, cannot add images etc..do we plan to make them more seamless like easy to embed pictures by drag and drop or add a photo options? While trying to describe anything picture may be needed.

- while sharing notes etc, shared link their preview is shown like in FB etc..very handy.

We plan top upgrade soon from 3.x.x -> 4.1.x.

Thanks

The goal was to have the aboslute minimal editor possible. To embed an image you need to upload an image using the photos app and then you can copy paste the link to the photo page within your post. It will render an image. We don't allow embedding img or a tags, because it can become a security risk. This way we make sure that all images are hosted in our buckets.

Yes it would be better if we could just drag'n drop an image within a post. We didn't want to go crazy with the javascript implementation in this release which was already significant amount of work rewriting all the mootools code to JQuery. A lot of what is happening right now is better be done using AngularJS so we decided to hold off from building more interactive JS tools.

For sharing links we need to implement a com_links. Creating links previews can get quite complex so it is something for the future releases. I can't give you an ETA, because we have more important features on the roadmap such as mobilefirst, removing legacy code, and geolocation graphs.

Thank you @rastin for the details shared.

I see. Sure as long as these handy features are on roadmap its good. Sure we have to prioritize on higher priority ones first.

Also our upgrade is going fine now and we can see very impressive performance improvements with this release. I will update our upgrade thread with details soon. I'm sure Anahita will evolve into a very robust and popular social building block for any such applications. Cheers to you and your team.
