Tutorials/Where to get started

Hey Guys,

I came across Anahita while researching a new social project I am working on.  I decided to go with you guys as everything you have built looks fantastic and like exactly what I am looking for.  I am an experienced web developer and have used a lot of MVC frameworks such as CodeIgniter, Zend, Cake, and others but I have never used Joomla which this is built on top of.  I was wondering where the best place is to get started learning everything about anahita and how to properly and in depthly use it including creating new templates with the templating engine you use.  Any links or guides would be awesome as well! I look forward to using this code base on my new project.

Thanks -Kameron #anahita #social #networking #engine

BTW, I have been reading up and do realize there is a paid section which I will most likely be signing up for.  But in the mean time would you recommend going through any Joomla tutorials/setup and/or any Gantry tutorials?

Hi Kameron, welcome to Anahitapolis! It is great to have you here with us.

Yes as you have noticed the help resources (http://www.anahitapolis.com/help/resources) are offered as premium services. If you have a good understanding of frameworks, software design patterns, object oriented programming, MVC, etc. you should have no problem learning how to develop social apps for Anahita.

Anahita is not Joomla. We are only using a stripped down and modified version of Joomla as a container to deliver Anahita. That is until we rewrite all the parts using native Anahita framework. We have tutorials on how to build social apps for Anahita. Some of the Joomla knowledge also still applies, but not completely. We have enough code examples in the repository for you to read and ask questions.

As for the template engine goes, for the time being we are using the Gantry framework. It is a great technology, however since it is developed for a CMS environment and since we are using only a small portion of features that it offers there is some redundant code that is not being used. We will eventually develop a native Anahita template framework later this year. That way we wil have a leaner and lighter system. For the time being you can look at the Shiraz template and the Gantry tutorials. You can also ask us questions and we will answer them for you.

Did I answer your questions?
