My feature requests

Hi,

I know some of these are on the roadmap. But if so, I hope it helps as user feedback for dev priorities.

* Blogs (my biggest feature request. keep wanting to goto k2, but am waiting for the first out of yourselves and Tuiyo. Thinking its going to be you ;)

* Groups (with unlimited nested categories. I want to have, USA > California > San Francisco > La Honda

* Groups module for listing group categories

* Integration with other comments systems. I use JComments. The reason for this is for consistency within the site, so all comments works the same.

* Adding Youtube clips to be able to be played to Story Updates / status

* Links in Story Updates / status to be linkable

* Like and Dislike

* Ability for users to turn of the tabs like Relationship and Personal if they like. #suggestions

@Rastin & Arash

Congratulation for the birth release.

Reaching this birthday milestone I guess that some present and future partners are interested in a more sharpened roadmap. Features that we see as requirements for going with the Anahita platform are still:

-- Custom profile fields (to build profiles for users in an professional environment)
-- Building education and employment/professional experience history (same here ... to build profiles for users in an professional environment)
-- Private messaging
-- Sharing documents, with FlexPaper support (important feature for a knowledge network -> e.g. intranet/extranet)
-- Advanced search capabilities throughout the platform (to get the knowledge the user needs)

My 2 cents, every SNS should have event app.

@Bernd Thank you so much!

"I guess that some present and future partners are interested in a more sharpened roadmap"

We don't use roadmaps. We only set a long term vision and plan for what needs to be implemented within the next 2-3 weeks in the general direction of those visions. Then we populate the to-do lists on the project group and assign priorities. Partners who are interested follow a project and they can see the to-do items that are listed to be next. There they can comment on each or start a topic on a project discussion board.

We first build based on the Anahitapolis immediate needs while keep an eye on the projects that our partner's are working on. Sometimes they wish to have certain design changes or further flexibilities. In that case if their request is aligned with our goals we make the changes, if not we try to find ways to create the opportunity so they can customize their own code. There are also times that we completely disagree with a request.

1.5 years ago we did have a publicly posted roadmap with a bold title that said "These are only estimates and not promises" despite that a lot of people took them as promises and tried to hold us accountable. There are still many out there who think Anahita was supposed to be released publicly in January 2010 which wasn't true.

"A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes." - Mark Twain

And also since a lot of concepts in Anahita are being done for the first time, it is very difficult to come up with exact time and cost estimates. 3-6 month ago we had no idea about so many design decisions and implementations that we have done today.

Your Feature Requests

"Custom profile fields (to build profiles for users in an professional environment)"

In the upcoming releases we will be taking out al the existing profile fields other than some essential ones: i.e Name, Bio, Gender. Then we provide for APIs so profile fields for any actor nodes can be injected by the social applications installed on that profile.

"Building education and employment/professional experience history (same here ... to build profiles for users in an professional environment)"

"Sharing documents, with FlexPaper support (important feature for a knowledge network -> e.g. intranet/extranet)"

If we see there is enough demand to justify the time invested in building and maintaining such social apps, we will for sure build them.

"Private messaging"
I've answered this one here: Will there be a private messaging for Anahita?

"Advanced search capabilities throughout the platform (to get the knowledge the user needs)"

Making information more accessible and easier to find will be an ongoing process and a major focus in the Anahita project whether it is achieved by a person searching for an information or finding new and innovative ways to reroute and channel information to people without them having to actively seek it.

@eugene we are perfectly aware of that. It is just not the right time yet for us to start developing Event social apps. We want to get some more people here and organize some events first through which we can start building the required tools and improve them as we go on.
